The Club

Wakefield Dog Training Club was founded over 60 years ago. It is affiliated to The Kennel Club and its primary aim is to make dog training available and affordable to everyone.
The club is a totally voluntary organisation run by a committee, which relies on the skills and experience and dedication of many people. The revenue created from Wakefield Dog Training Club from training fees and proactive fund raising and of course subscriptions goes entirely towards the provision and maintenance of the club and its building and all of the equipment.
We promote The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme which consists of Puppy courses, Bronze, Silver, and Gold. For young people we have junior handler classes, these also incorporate the Good Citizen Dog Scheme. We also run our own Platinum classes for the handlers and dogs who wish to go a little further.
Training classes are also provided in a variety of dog sports, Agility, Working Trials, Flyball, KC Rally, Competitive Obedience, and Heel Work to Music. Many of our trainers compete successfully in these competitions, and are KC approved Judges.
All our training is carried out through motivation and reward, we have had many members who have been successful at events throughout the country, including Crufts.
